    Learning Lunch

    Feb 7, 2018

The History Museum of Mobile's next Learning Lunch Program will take place on February 7, at 12 pm and features Mardi Gras Trail Author and Historian Dr. Ann Pond. Dr. Pond's presentation is titled Mobile's First Mardi Gras. Dr. Pond currently operates the Mobile Mardi Gras Trail, and shares her knowledge of Mardi Gras history with locals and visitors alike. She has written a trilogy of books on Mobile's Mardi Gras: The First Cowbellion; Masons and Mardi Gras; and Cain and his Lost Cause Generation. The foundation of the books came from her doctorate work, at the University of Southern Mississippi, which focused on the development of Creole culture in the United States. In addition to these books, she has also worked as a freelance journalist and taught history at Bishop College, Spring Hill College and the University of South Alabama. Dr. Pond and her husband, Steve, live with their 4 children in the Oakleigh Garden District. The Learning Lunch series, offered monthly, allows guests to bring their lunch and enjoy a free presentation on a wide range of historical and cultural topics. Admission to Learning Lunch is free, and all are encouraged to join us. For more information on the Learning Lunch series, call Jennifer Theeck, Curator of Education, at (251) 301-0270 or contact her by email at
